I disagree, Seth
For once, I disagree with Seth Godin, on the subject of speaking in public.
Seth says, if you have nothing to say, say nothing and sit down.
I say, it's all practice.
Whether you have anything to say or not, if presented with the opportunity to speak in public, do so. Make a fool of yourself a couple of times.
When it is time to pitch the GREAT IDEA, you'll do it with aplomb.
Nothing can beat speaking to your audience live. Nothing can beat preparing for that moment.

I'm with you, Deepak. Seth's essential message is about not wasting others' time and I'll all for that, but ultimately, one cannot excell as a speaker without actually doing it! Seth's approach is one I have taken in somehow...but the effect has been a too conscious delivery that limits the passion. One must trust one's passion sometimes...a lesson too long delayed! Glad to discover your blog.
I agree... you should check out the talk by Philipe Starck,an iconic designer. Quite frankly, he had nothing to say or show in his presentation, but talk he did- for 20 mins! And the subject was "Why Design?" And a well-crafted talk that was!
