Oh, Fish!

Re-discovered the PGI Restaurant a few days ago and I have to tell you, I haven't tasted such good fish since my sister and brother-in-law were in town and we hit one of Pune's seafood restaurants (the name is lost in the alcoholic haze induced by their special offer of Chicken tikka with every two vodkas, but it's on JM Road).

But I tell you, folks, if you're ever at Quarter Gate, Pune, around lunch or dinner time, try the Prawn Malvani Curry at PGI Restaurant. Authentic Malvani masala, fresh prawns, amazing quantity (there must have been a dozen large prawns in there) and an unblelievable price; Rs. 157/- ($4) for the prawns, steamed rice and one roti, enough for two (and we had rice left over).

In contrast, Smokin' Joe's Passionara Pizzax (9 squares of pizza base topped with mozarella cheese and prawn) was a fookin disappointment. At Rs. 150/- (see conversion in above para), it was rather old-ish, tiny prawns on plastic, cheese-coated pizza base.

So I plugged for the Goan fish curry (Surmai) tonight and I was not disappointed. Fish and rice for dinner till the day after, folks.
